Dr. John C. Maxwell and a few friends launched EQUIP in 1996.
EQUIP’s vision is to see effective Christian Leaders fulfill the Great Commission in Every Nation.

EQUIP’s mission is to equip International Christian Leaders to effectively serve the growing Body of Christ around the world.
Therefore, EQUIP have launched the Million Leaders Mandate. This exciting initiative will enable EQUIP to train one million international church leaders, worldwide, in basic leadership skills by 2008. This army of effective trained leaders will provide visionary leadership to local churches and national organizations, while training other national leaders throughout the world.

About Million Leaders Mandate

The program was launched in Asia in January of 2003 and is continuing continent-by-continent in successive years. EQUIP staff and Associate Trainers (pastors and marketplace leaders) are training 40,000 certified (National) trainers in key nations, who in turn will train 25 other leaders each. Totaling an exponential amount of one million leaders trained.

This initiative features a three-year leadership training strategy for pastors, church and marketplace leaders. Each region of a selected country is assigned a training team that returns every six months to provide instruction. This model encourages lasting relationships, stability and accountability in each nation.

The Million Leaders Mandate Curriculum
This vision has prompted John C. Maxwell and his EQUIP team to make available the library of INJOY and Maxwell training that has been developed over the years for a biblically based curriculum to train up leaders across these three main areas:

Spiritual Formation
Skill Formation
Strategy Formation
The MLM program is a three year commitment by pastors, church and marketplace leaders. There are six notebooks covering 36 units of leadership training therefore, 12 MLM leadership units will be covered per year. Each unit takes about one hour to deliver and may be longer based on group discussion and the degree of application by the trainer.

Every six months, leaders participate in a MLM Train the Trainer Session that lasts for at least one day. They will be trained in one MLM notebook covering 6 MLM units of training. At the end of the Train The Trainer session, each of the leader will be provided with a copy of that particular Notebook as well as it’s power point presentation as tools to train others.

The MLM training has six workbooks that cover 36 leadership-training sessions. Listed below are the 36 units:

More than 985,000 (Feb. 2006) Christian leaders around the world have benefited through the Million Leaders Mandate Program.

EQUIP is active in more than 50 nations of Asia, Africa and the Middle East. As EQUIP launches in Europe and Latin America, the number of nations will increase to over 100. In Singapore and Malaysia, Equipping Leaders for Asia partners with EQUIP and has committed to train and equip 1000 leaders who will in turn raise another 25,000 leaders.
